INSTALLATION TIPS: SUSPENSION SPHERES

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Due to the multitude of hydro-pneumatic suspension systems, it is important to study the service manual for the specific type of vehicle being repaired. Having made this clear, there follows a list of basic procedures to be carried out to correctly replace hydro-pneumatic suspension system spheres.

Following verification of the vehicle’s technical requirements, check to ensure that the new suspension spheres are the same size and have the appropriate pressure for their intended position within the suspension.

NOTE: All spheres should be replaced at the same time provided the fault is caused by natural wear and tear. Failure to do so could cause unsatisfactory suspension performance.

Disassembly

1. Lower the vehicle to the suspension’s lowest position (1st position in the height selector)

2. Loosen, by a ¼ turn, the pressure discharge screw situated at the side of the circuit breaker. This purger screw is easily distinguished by its 10mm hexagonal head. Make certain not to turn the screw more than ¼ turn to avoid ejection and possible loss or damage of its internal ball.

3. Once the oil pressure has dropped to atmospheric pressure, use the filter key to dismantle the old spheres.

Mounting
